When Pride Infiltrates Serving: Can We, As Parents, Show Humility When Posting On Social Media?

When Pride Infiltrates Serving: Can We, As Parents, Show Humility When Posting On Social Media?

by Norma Harais | Apr 3, 2023 | Parenting

Years ago I used to have an email tagline that read…. “The heart is the happiest when it beats for others.” It resonated with me. It reminded me of how my parents raised my six siblings and me. So, more than anything, I wanted my own children to have a deep...

Jesus said something I think every mom needs to he Jesus said something I think every mom needs to hear.

It's a moment Becca Stevens brought up in our conversation for Ep. 135, and I haven't stopped thinking about it since.

When a woman was being criticized, not helped, not coached, just criticized, He looked at her accusers and said: 'Leave her alone.'

Leave her alone while she's trying.
Leave her alone while she's figuring it out.
Leave her alone while she's doing the invisible, sacred work of motherhood.

The voice that says you're behind, you're too much, you're not enough, that is not His voice.

Save this for the day it gets loud. 🤍

Mom guilt isn't proof you're failing. It's proof Mom guilt isn't proof you're failing.

It's proof you care.

But caring and carrying are two very different things.

The antidote to mom guilt isn't trying harder. It's receiving grace.

“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9

Ever wonder if any of it is actually sinking in? Ever wonder if any of it is actually sinking in?

The Scripture time. The example you’re trying to set. The lessons you repeat what feels like a hundred times.

Abby McDonald, author and speaker behind Surrendering Certainty, wondered the same thing, until one ordinary night her husband told her something their son had done that she never expected.

She shares the whole story in her new post for the MomQ blog, and what it taught her about the freedom Christ offers moms stuck replaying their doubts.

“Bold faith for me looks like trust and contentmen “Bold faith for me looks like trust and contentment.”

Kathleen moved to Texas at 60, leaving her adult kids, her community, and the life she expected. And instead of sitting in disappointment, she surrendered her expectations to God.

What He had instead? MomQ. A community of women to pour into. A purpose she didn’t see coming.

That’s the kind of freedom we’re talking about this month.
