Hey there, fellow moms! Let’s dive into the beautiful chaos of motherhood, shall we? We all know it’s not a walk in the park. From endless diaper changes to negotiating with tiny dictators, motherhood can leave us feeling overwhelmed and, at times, inadequate. But fear not, my friend! In the story of Moses and God’s relentless faithfulness, we find a wellspring of hope and encouragement for our own wild ride as moms. So, grab a cup of coffee (or let’s be real, reheated coffee) and let’s uncover how God equips us to raise a generation of godly children.
1. Divine Calling: Your Superhero Origin Story : Just like Moses had a divine calling to lead the Israelites out of Egypt, you, mama, have been handpicked by the Creator of the Universe for an extraordinary mission.
So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt.
Exodus 3:10
It’s no coincidence that you are in the trenches of motherhood. You are CHOSEN, dear one, to be a fierce protector and guide for your children in a world that desperately needs godly influencers.
2. God’s Faithfulness in the Mess : The truth is- life as a mom can be downright messy. But amidst the chaos, God’s faithfulness remains unshakable. Just look at Moses’ life, filled with doubts, fears of inadequacy, and wilderness wanderings.
God said to Moses, “I am who I am.[ This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I am has sent me to you.’”
Exodus 3:14
Yet, through it all, God’s faithfulness prevailed. In our own moments of doubt and weariness, let’s hold onto the truth that God is faithful. He equips us with the strength, wisdom, and grace we need to navigate the ups and downs of motherhood.
3. Cultivating a Bedrock of Faith : Moses had a burning bush moment that forever changed the trajectory of his life.
Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the far side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. 2 There the angel of the Lord appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up. 3 So Moses thought, “I will go over and see this strange sight—why the bush does not burn up.”
4 When the Lord saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, “Moses! Moses!”
And Moses said, “Here I am.”
5 “Do not come any closer,” God said. “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.” 6 Then he said, “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.” At this, Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God.
Exodus 3:1-6
Similarly, we have the extraordinary opportunity to cultivate a foundation of faith in our children’s lives. Through bedtime prayers, family devotionals, and open conversations about Jesus, we can nurture a deep, authentic faith in our little ones.
These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
Deuteronomy 6:6-7
Remember, it’s NOT about perfection but about showing them the messy, redemptive, beautiful journey of following Jesus.
4. Trusting in God’s Provision: (Because, Let’s Be Honest, We’re Not Superheroes) Okay, let’s face it, moms. We may be superheroes in our kids’ eyes, but we’re far from perfect. We question our abilities, feel stretched thin, and wonder if we’re doing enough. But here’s the good news: God’s got our backs. He promises to provide what we lack.
But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?”
And God said, “I will be with you. And this will be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you[a] will worship God on this mountain.”
Exodus 3:11-12
In our weakness, His strength shines through. So, let’s surrender our insecurities and lean on His abundant grace. You’ve got this, mama!
5. Authentic Connections: More Than Just Survival Mode: Amidst the diaper changes, carpool chaos, and never-ending laundry, let’s not lose sight of the most important task at hand: nurturing authentic relationships with our children. Moses had face-to-face encounters with God, and we have the privilege of leading our children to experience a personal connection with their Heavenly Father.
The Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend. Then Moses would return to the camp, but his young aide Joshua son of Nun did not leave the tent.
Exodus 33:11
Through heartfelt conversations, shared laughter, and moments of prayer, we can cultivate a genuine love for Jesus in their tender hearts.
6. Pass the Torch, Mama! Moses faithfully led the Israelites to the Promised Land, but he knew it wasn’t just about his own legacy. He prepared Joshua to continue the journey.
Now Joshua son of Nun was filled with the spirit of wisdom because Moses had laid his hands on him. So the Israelites listened to him and did what the Lord had commanded Moses.
Deuteronomy 34:9
Similarly, we have the incredible responsibility of raising children who will carry the torch of faith into the future. By investing in their lives, teaching them to love God and others, we create a ripple effect that impacts generations to come.
Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.
Proverbs 22:6
Can you think of a more meaningful purpose for your life? We are so small but He is so big. He is ABUNDANT so you don’t have to worry about being enough.
So, my fellow mama warriors, take heart! You are not alone on this crazy, beautiful journey called motherhood. God has entrusted you with the task of raising godly children, and He will equip you every step of the way. Embrace your divine calling, knowing that you are loved, cherished, and able to do all things in Him. It won’t always be easy, but remember, you are never alone. Lean into God’s faithfulness, trust in His provision, and savor the precious moments as you lead your children into the fullness of life found in Christ. You’ve got this, mama!
